Deep Roots...πŸ™πŸŒΏπŸŒΌπŸ’žπŸ•Š

Happy New Year!

     TODAY'S WORD:

According to researchers at Rutgers University, the tree with the deepest documented roots is the shepherd’s tree native to the Kalahari Desert in Southern Africa. When drilling a water well, workers discovered the tree’s roots went 230 feet deep into the ground. In arid regions, roots go deep in search of water to stay alive.

Whether growing in deserts or by the side of a river, trees use their root systems to bring up water and minerals from the soil that sustain life. The psalmist used an image of a healthy, fruitful tree to picture a man who walks in God’s ways (Psalm 1:3) and meditates on God’s Word (Psalm 1:2). The image of the tree in verse 3 is one of strength, health, stability, and fruitfulness. Transfer those characteristics to a person, and you get a picture of a blessed man or woman (Psalm 1:1).

What is your source of spiritual nutrients with which you nourish your heart, soul, and mind? Sink your roots deep into God’s Word for a blessed life.

Doctrine without duty is a tree without fruits;

Duty without doctrine is a tree without roots.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Father, You are perfectly faithful in everything You do. You show Your faithfulness to me in caring for me, protecting me, and providing for me. Remind me of Your promise to never leave me nor forsake me. Grant me the wisdom to see Your hand at work in my life. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.

Who Are You?...πŸ™πŸŒΏπŸŒΌπŸ’žπŸ•Š

Many who profess to be looking for the speedy coming of Christ, are becoming conformed to this world, and seek more earnestly for the applause of those around them, than the approbation of God.

Many of these professed Christians dress, talk and act like the world, and the only thing by which they may be known, is their profession. Though they profess to be looking for Christ, their conversation is not in heaven, but on worldly things.

The way to heaven is rugged. Briers and thorns are in the way; but we can with cheerfulness tread the rough pathway, knowing that Jesus, the King of glory, once trod it before us. We will rejoice that we can follow in His footsteps, and be partakers with Him of His sufferings, that we may finally partake of His glory.

What if reproaches are heaped upon me, even by those who profess to be looking for the Lord? Shall I complain, when Jesus bore the scoffs and derision of His own people? No, I will not complain; I will rather rejoice and be exceeding glad that I am accounted worthy to suffer for Christ's sake, that my reward may be in heaven. Only let me have an inheritance in glory, and it will be enough.

Let us strive to be Christians (Christ-like) in every sense of the word, and let our dress, conversation and actions preach that Christ is formed within, the hope of glory, and that we are looking for that blessed hope and glorious appearing of Jesus. My affections, interest, treasure, all, are in the bright world to come. I long to see the King in His beauty.— Sons And Daughters Of God p. 352

God Is L O V E...πŸ™πŸ’žπŸŒΏπŸŒΌπŸ•Š

How crucial it is for us always to remember, and not forget, what God has done for us in Christ!   “It would be well for us to spend a thoughtful hour each day in contemplation of the life of Christ. We should take it point by point, and let the imagination grasp each scene, especially the closing ones. As we thus dwell upon His great sacrifice for us, our confidence in Him will be more constant, our love will be quickened, and we shall be more deeply imbued with His spirit.”—Ellen G. White, The Desire of Ages, p. 83.

Have you ever questioned God’s great love for you? Read the story of Jesus’ crucifixion in Matthew 26– 28 and reflect on how much heaven gave for you.
