Today....πŸ¦‹πŸŒΌπŸπŸƒ

Today...
Give a smile to a stranger who seems to be having a tough day.
Give patience to someone who is dancing on your last nerve.
Give forgiveness to someone who may never have the courage to ask.
Give time to someone who asks for nothing more.

KINDNESS....pass it on....πŸŒΌπŸƒ

Ground Ginger and Pain....perfect together!!!

I have pain 24x7 as a result of the effects of Chairi Malformaton and Hydrocephalus....  Losing 80% of the nerve function on my right side and 50% on the left causes pain and weakness.
Doing simlpe chores and exercises can cause severe pain.  Sometimes even the act of walking would cause my arm to ache.
I rely on tylenol sometimes daily and after physical therapy I need prescription pain meds!
I know the dangers of getting addicted to prescription drugs and so I use them sparingly.

This changed when I saw this video by Dr Gregger of NutritionFact.org.  He only publish treatments that are 100% verified.
My new pain remedy??? Ground ginger...natural...no side effects...numerous other positive health benefits!

The attached video is about ground ginger and how it helps muscle pain.  It is used by athletes....and it works!!!

I started using organic ground ginger (I found that organic was cleaner then the non organic) with hot water (tea) mornings and evenings since the end of July of this year.  I have not used tylenol nor prescription pain meds since then.

Let me put this in perspective...I packed up my apartment for a cross state move and unpacked into the new space all without tylenol or prescription meds!!!

It has not erased my 24×7 pain...but even that is more manageable!

If you don't like my tea method...you can put the ground ginger in just about anything you like to eat, drink!

Watch the video, speak with your health professional and see if this is an option for you.

🍃Cheers to Good Health!🍃

Palliative Medicine...You Need to Know if You Have a Serious Illness

This past summer my awesome niece finished her Fellowship in Palliative Medicine and accepted a great leadership position.  This jarred me into doing a bit of research to share with you.

Palliative care (pronounced pal-lee-uh-tiv) is specialized medical care for people with serious illness. This type of care is focused on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.
Palliative care is provided by a specially-trained team of doctors, nurses and other specialists who work together with a patient’s other doctors to provide an extra layer of support. It is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness, and it can be provided along with curative treatment.

Here is a great resource article from AARP:  You have to request Palliative Care at the hospital...but keep in mind that it is not available everywhere and also that there is a shortage of Doctors for this great, new emerging field.

And another form Harvard Magazine...

Poor health is stressful and hard, but help is here...

Note: If you are suffering with pain...stay tuned to a great Blog next month with first hand relief results from me...very excited to share.

Mother's Day...after πŸŒ»πŸ’žπŸ’–πŸ’•πŸ•Š

Today, came sooner than I would have liked...but time rolls along and the goal is to keep moving.
My mother told me just a few months ago that she kept every Birthday card, Mother's Day card that I gave her because she loved them so much and she also said they were beautiful and unique.   Today that comforts me.
Sending Mother's Day wishes to friends and family today was also therapeutic.

My brother wrote this poem in honor of my Mom for today...

Mortality

Like an event on stage, life is elusive and  soon vanishes.
Experiences become life
And life becomes memories
Laid to rest.
In one moment it can be grasped and felt, in another, vapor and void sets in like the mystery of the wind.

The Quiet Fighter...πŸ’–πŸ•Š

The Journey of Life has Wonderful Discoveries...πŸ•ŠπŸ’–

My Mom who just turned 91 years old and is currently in a Rehab after a health scare and pacemaker procedure.  She will most likely have to use assisted oxygen for the rest of her life.
I just found out that my mother is a quiet fighter.  She was in ICU for a week and another week as a regular patient...and worried about ever walking again.  At the rehab she used a walker and wheelchair.  Yesterday she got up and went to the bathroom without her walker.   She is ALWAYS dressed and ready for her PT exercises and tells me stories of other patients who are doing much better than when they arrived.  We wanted her to go home a week earlier but she insisted on staying to get the full measure of Rehab, get stronger and walk independently.
I can safely say that my fighting spirit for strength and survival came in part from my mother!
Her Rehab is close to my home so I am able to walk there daily and I have gotten closer to my mother and it feels wonderful!)
I have learnt patience and understanding for both my mother and my father (who is 93 and goes to the hospital and Rehab every day, still ride his bike, grocery shop...).
I am practicing love, patience and understanding for my self and I am happy that I did that in time to extend it to others including my parents...it's a wonderful feeling!
