Today's Word:

A Christian man was flying in the first-class section of a European airline when he was repeatedly offered a complimentary alcoholic drink. He politely refused each offer.  He kindly explained, “I am a Christian, and I do not drink alcohol.”

When the manager insisted, the Christian man calmly replied, “I propose you give this drink to the pilot.” The manager, startled, responded, “How can the pilot drink alcohol? He’s on duty! If he drinks, there’s a chance the plane could crash.” With tears in his eyes, the Christian said, “I am a Christian, and I am always on duty. If I drink alcohol, I could crash my life here and in eternity.”

We, too, must live with that same awareness. It might not be alcohol for you; it could be the temptation to give in to anger, dishonesty, sexual immorality, or neglecting to share God’s Word. We are always on duty, responsible for protecting our faith and living for Christ in every choice we make.

The world may try to persuade us to lower our standards, but we must remember: just like the pilot must stay sober for the safety of everyone onboard, we must stay spiritually vigilant. Every action we take has eternal significance—not just for us, but for those who look to us as examples.

Today's Prayer:

Father, thank You for this beautiful and blessed day. Help us to remember that we are always on duty as Christians, representing You in all we do. Give us the strength to resist the temptations of this world, whether it be alcohol, anger, or anything that might lead us astray. Guide us to be vigilant in our faith and to lead others by our example. In Jesus' name, Amen.
