Watch Our Words...πŸ™πŸŒΏπŸŒΌ

Solomon has something to say about lots of words. James reminds us that people who talk a lot can be inclined to say things they regret. When our tongues move faster than our brains, we’re in for trouble. The Bible often warns us to watch what we say.

James writes, “Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell” (James 3:4–6).

The proverb encourages us that he “who restrains his lips is wise.” Guard your tongue. It is not the number of words you speak that demonstrates your intelligence; it is the care with which you choose them, also, where and how we use your words.

Look to Jesus...πŸ™πŸŒΏπŸŒΌ

You need not expect to realize the fact that you are growing in The Lord, any more than you can realize that you are growing physically by trying to note changes in your height from day to day. If the plant turns its head away from the sun to look at itself to see how fast it is growing, it will soon cease to grow; and just so with the Christian. When you try to see yourself growing spiritually you are taking one of the most effective means to stop your growth entirely.

You are not told to grow in the knowledge of self or the knowledge of your sinfulness or that of your neighbors, but “in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Pet. 3:18. You cannot know His grace and all His attributes unless you see them; and you cannot see them unless you look to Him and not to Self!

The Lord Will Fight For You...πŸ™πŸŒΏπŸŒΌ

“Without cause men will become our enemies. The motives of the people of God will be misinterpreted, not only by the world, but by their own brethren. The Lord’s servants will be put in hard places. A mountain will be made of a molehill to justify men in pursuing a selfish, unrighteous course. . . . By misrepresentation these men will be clothed in the dark vestments of dishonesty because circumstances beyond their control made their work perplexing. They will be pointed to as men that cannot be trusted. And this will be done by the members of the church. God’s servants must arm themselves with the mind of Christ. They must not expect to escape insult and misjudgment. They will be called enthusiasts and fanatics. But let them not become discouraged. God’s hands are on the wheel of His providence, guiding His work to the glory of His name.”—Ellen G. White, The Upward Look, p. 177

A Humble Heart Is The VictoryπŸ™πŸŒΏπŸŒΌ

“The difficulties we have to encounter may be very much lessened by that meekness which hides itself in Christ. If we possess the humility of our Master, we shall rise above the slights, the rebuffs, the annoyances, to which we are daily exposed, and they will cease to cast a gloom over the spirit. The highest evidence of nobility in a Christian is self-control. He who under abuse or cruelty fails to maintain a calm and trustful spirit robs God of His right to reveal in him His own perfection of character. Lowliness of heart is the strength that gives victory to the followers of Christ; it is the token of their connection with the courts above.”—Ellen G. White, The Desire of Ages, p. 301.

Hope For Sardis...Hope For Us...πŸ™πŸŒΏπŸŒΌ

Today’s Word:Hope for Sardis

Ezekiel’s prophecy about dry bones being restored to life is a startling picture of hope in the darkest of circumstances. When God speaks life into what is dead, resurrection happens.

Jesus had told the Sardis church, “You are dead.” But he didn’t stop there. He called them to “Wake up!” His power could strengthen what life remained in them, giving them hope. Jesus called them to remember what they had received and heard. Memory itself is a gift from God to cherish. May the church never lose its memory of God’s great gifts.

Then “hold . . . fast” to what you were given, he said. In other words, obey and be on guard and on high alert. Watch, and watch out! And “repent.” Confession is good and necessary for the soul. Repentance and the forgiveness that follows are so freeing to our souls. In repentance we can admit who we are before God. And God mercifully forgives because he loves us and wants us to live with him.

The Lord wants us all to wake up and be fully alive, flourishing as he created us to be, and sharing his goodness with others everywhere in this broken world.

Today's Prayer:

Father, thank You for this beautiful and blessed day. I have sinned against You. I have not loved You with my whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. I need to be made right with You, remembering what You have given and done for me through Jesus. Fill me and renew my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
