Syringomyelia Fact of the Day:
Syringomyelia (SM) can be caused by any condition that blocks the normal flow of spinal fluid. Most common cause is Chiari, while the second major cause is spinal cord injury. Other causes include spinal or brain tumors, arachnoid cysts, meningitis (which can cause arachnoiditis or scarring), or tethered spinal cord, etc.
